Deliveries of the Tesla Model 3 in the UK began in June

Tesla Model 3 Is Now The UK's 3rd Best Selling Car

According to new data published on Thursday by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the Tesla Model 3 was UK’s third bestselling vehicle for the month of August beating popular brands like the Ford Fiesta and the Mercedes Benz A-Class. Deliveries of the Model 3 began in June

Tesla sold 2,082 Model 3s in August only behind the Ford Fiesta (3,978 sold), Volkswagen Golf (3,439) and ahead of the Ford Focus (1,886) and the Mercedes Benz A-Class which sold 1,880 vehicles.

Electric vehicles, however, still account for only 1.1% of all car sales in the UK. The sales of battery electric vehicles have doubled in the last 12 months from 9,000 in 2018 to 17,393 in 2019.

Tesla is an American company founded in the USA by Elon Musk and 3 other engineers. It is a pioneer in the production of electric vehicles and has stuck by its mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. The success of Tesla has helped to intensify efforts by traditional automakers to make the shift from fuel cars to electric vehicles.

Tesla is without a doubt the leader in electric vehicle production but the competition is going to get tighter as almost all traditional automakers have announced an electric program of some sort.
