Tesla officially reported its second-quarter production and delivery numbers this week, with the three-month period coming to a close. The automaker produced 410,831 electric vehicles (EVs) and delivered 443,956 units in the second quarter of the year, a decrease from the numbers reported in the same period in 2023. The majority of deliveries in Q2 came from the Model 3 and Model Y, totaling 422,405 units. Other models including the Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck contributed 21,551 units.

Tesla’s strong Q2 deliveries have been seen as a positive sign by Wedbush, indicating that the worst may be in the past. Tesla will host its Q2 2024 earnings call on Tuesday, July 23, at 4:30 p.m. Central Time. Analysts had predicted Tesla to deliver around 438,019 vehicles in Q2, especially after Q1 2024 deliveries dipped below 400,000 for the first time since Q3 2022.

During Tesla’s 2024 annual shareholder meeting, CEO Elon Musk hinted at potential plans to reintroduce the referral program in Q3 and allow users to transfer the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system without charge for an additional quarter. Musk also shared insights into the Foundation Series Cybertruck and the continued delivery timeline for the launch edition vehicle.

In addition to the upcoming Q2 2024 earnings call, Tesla announced the unveiling of its robotaxi platform scheduled for August 8. The platform will be based on Tesla’s FSD system, and previews of a ride-sharing service for robotaxi services have already been shared by the company.
